Ottawa County Clerk & GIS Unveil New Applications for Voter Information

The Ottawa County Clerk’s Office, in partnership with the Ottawa County Geospatial Insights and Solutions (GIS) Department, are unveiling new tools for voters as they prepare for the November 6 General Election.

The “My Election Polling Place” application will allow voters to type in their address or click anywhere on the county map to find their sample ballot as well as view and receive directions to their polling place.

The “My Elected Representatives” application allows residents to enter their Ottawa County address or click anywhere on the county map to find a list and contact information for all of their elected representatives, from the federal level, to city, township and school board officials

Ottawa County is leading the way in creating a centralized place for voter information. This information has previously not been available from a single source. Both applications include the ability for voters to see the jurisdictional boundaries of their representatives or their polling precinct as well.

“These tools are a huge step forward in better informing our citizens, and also allowing them to have the contact information of every elected representative at their fingertips.” Said Justin Roebuck, Ottawa County Clerk. “Our partnership with the excellent team in the Ottawa County GIS division has made this project a reality. We could not have done it without their expertise!”

“GIS is an effective community engagement tool, and these two applications are a great way for the Ottawa County Clerk to empower citizens to know who their current elected officials are, what is on the ballot, and where to vote based on their location.” Said Shane Pavlak, Ottawa County GIS Supervisor.

Voters can access the applications under the Ottawa County Elections webpage at: www.miottawa.org/elections (Follow the links to Voter Information in the menu).
